The Initiative for Safe Pursuits and Apprehension Technology organization is a national nonprofit dedicated to the safety of law enforcement officers, suspects, and citizens during police pursuits. The mission is to provide law enforcement departments with limited resources access to the safest, most effective tire deflation technology.
SAFETY
Antiquated, traditional vehicle stop systems have been highly controversial. Tire deflation systems are needed to stop vehicles but most manual units have a high number of injuries and deaths among law enforcement officers, persons of interest, and bystanders. Because other spike strips are manually operated, the operators are directly exposed to vehicles driving at dangerous speeds, as well as the spike recoiling. With the latest technology vehicles are stopped in the safest possible way, and there is no need for more than one operator to deploy as many as 10 units simultaneously.
